Creating an online store: useful tips

The number of online stores is continually increasing. In an online store, you can purchase furniture, appliances, clothing, footwear, groceries, and travel packages. Tiring trips to physical stores are increasingly being replaced by visits to online shops. The volume of online sales is steadily growing.

An online store can bring enormous profits, but it’s essential to remember that much depends on how it looks and functions.

What should be considered when creating an online store?

  1. The online store should load very quickly (3-4 seconds) and function correctly across all browsers.
  2. The online store should have convenient website navigation and a high-quality search feature.
  3. The homepage should contain information about discounts and promotions, as well as a section with the most popular products.
  4. Provide contact information in the site header and, preferably, on each page. The contact information should include as much detail about you as possible: phone number, office address, email, Skype, ICQ, etc.
  5. In an online store, there is no option to physically examine the product. Real displays are replaced with virtual ones, so professional product photographs are essential. Each product in the online store should have photos from multiple angles, detailed specifications, and descriptions. Organize product information so that the price, specifications, photos, and purchase link are easily perceivable by the user. Be sure to indicate what is included in the product price.
  6. The ordering process in the online store should be as simplified as possible. Do not require customers to register or enter login details when placing an order. Send confirmation emails to users after they place an order or after payment is received for the product, if there is no personal account.
  7. Add a product comparison feature to the website. This will significantly ease the selection of the right product for customers.
  8. And don’t forget to offer discounts to loyal customers!
