Secrets of an effective banner

A banner is a graphic-text message with advertising or informational content, displayed on a website page. Unlike banners in newspapers and magazines, a banner on the internet has a hyperlink to the advertiser’s website or another web resource with additional information about the product.

To make the banner advertising your company’s product more effective, follow these simple recommendations:

  1. Use animation when creating your banner. Click-through rates for banners with interesting animations are 3-5 times higher than static banners.
  2. The banner should load quickly, so avoid using excessive effects when creating it.
  3. A banner placed in the middle of the page will be more effective than one located in the footer or header of the site.
  4. The duration of the banner should not exceed 5 seconds. If the banner’s storyline lasts longer, it is unlikely to be viewed to the end.
  5. The fewer words in the banner, the better. Internet users tend to read less and scan more. An effective text message on the banner should contain no more than seven words. Each additional word reduces the effectiveness of the banner by half. Your company’s name, logo, and website address must be present on the banner. It’s better not to use abbreviations, foreign words, or small fonts in the banner text.
  6. The effectiveness of the banner can sharply decline if more than four colors are used in its creation. The colors used should be harmonious. The simplest way to achieve a stylish banner is to use shades of one color.
  7. Change your advertising banners as often as possible. Users stop noticing a banner if they see it more than four times.
